Pink Christmas with Want2Scrap

Hi all, Katie here with Handmade by K8 and I have a double-page, multi-photo layout to share with you today!  I have to admit, it isn’t often I create a double-page spread anymore, let alone use more than one photo on a layout but I really love how this one turned out.

Years ago we lived in a much, much smaller home and didn’t have room for a big tree at Christmas so I had picked up a white 4″ tree on a Black Friday sale and hit up Hobby Lobby for some cheap ornaments.  It turned out to be the perfect tree because the kids were pretty little and they were able to decorate the entire tree all by themselves.  Now that we have moved, we have a nice BIG tree for our family and our daughter claimed the little white one for her room.  She is a pink-a-holic so it was no surprise when she asked for pink ornaments for her tree…and of course, we obliged.  I snapped some pictures of  her decorating her tree this year and couldn’t wait to scrap them…

Pink Christmas layout by Katie Piotrowski

This layout was based on this sketch I found on Pinterest.  Since the focus of the layout was her pink ornaments, I went through my stash and pulled out multiple sheets of pink patterned paper.  The background of the layout is simple, white cardstock.  I trimmed and set the patterned papers along the top of the layout then cropped and arranged my photos.  Next, I set to work embellishing.  Using all the pink patterned papers I had chosen, I cut a variety of little banner pieces in varying sizes.  I didn’t pay too close attention to sizes or measurements, I just cut then I places the banner pieces along the bottom of the photos.  Next, I chose a size from Want2Scrap Labels One Nestaboard and cut it in half.  After die cutting the paper to cover it with my Spellbinders Grand Calibur and Labels One die template I added the coordinating Want2Scrap Lables One Hot Pink Nestabling.  I sprinkled a few more glittered embellishments around and used Thickers for the 2014.  Here’s a closeup of the label and embellishments…

For the layout title, I started by taking one of the Want2Scrap Pine Tree Chipboard Embellishments, painted it white with some DecoArt acrylci paint then covered it with some white American Crafts Sparkle Tinsel.  Then, using the Want2Scrap Chubba Bubba Chipboard Alphabet I created the ‘pink’ by coating the letters with Mod Podge and some ultra fine Stickles Glitter and paired it with the Want2Scrap Christmas Fancy Chipboard Word covered with a darker pink Stickles Glitter.  Here’s a closer view of the title…

All glittered pieces were sprayed with DecoArt Acrylic Sealer to keep that glitter from coming off on everything!  So I am curious, are you more traditional with your Christmas decorations or are you more like my Shelby?
